The RLNI has been rescuing people at sea since 1824. Today thier volunteer crews are all on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, rescuing people up to 100 miles from the coast of the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland. In addition they now run a seasonal lifeguard service on over 160 beaches around the coast. The RNLI rescues on average 22 people every day.
